Senior Tax Manager

Our client is recruiting for an experienced and service-oriented Senior Tax Manager to join their expanding Tax Group.  The Senior Tax Manager will engage in tax planning and complex compliance needs of various clients and to develop tax related business opportunities.  This role provides exceptional career advancement with a potential opportunity for partnership in the near future.  The successful candidate can work at one of our client’s offices located in Surrey, Port Coquitlam or Downtown Vancouver, British Columbia.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the development and implementation of tax planning strategies for clients
  • Advise on planning opportunities, tax minimization strategies and compliance issues
  • Research and analyze a wide variety of tax issues
  • Review complex tax returns and forms for corporate groups
  • Review the work of junior staff members and train, develop and mentor members of the Tax Group
  • Respond to the inquiries and requests of tax authorities
  • Assist with client management, foster excellent relationships with clients and initiate business development opportunities

Required Qualifications & Personal Attributes:

  • CPA with a minimum of 3-4 years of Canadian tax experience as a Senior Tax Manager within a national firm or large regional firm dealing with high net-worth clients or clients in the real estate and technology sectors
  • Completion of the CPA Canada In-Depth Tax Course is a strong asset
  • Tax planning experience in a private enterprise environment dealing with corporate reorganizations, shareholder and estate planning, trusts and business/asset dispositions and acquisitions
  • Exposure to Inbound/Outbound/Cross Border tax planning with some knowledge of foreign affiliate planning, transfer pricing, doing business in the US and related matters
  • Strong technical and research skills and the ability to adapt various tax strategies to unique circumstances
  • Excellent communication skills and demonstrated ability to analyze a situation, recommend a course of action, and working with legal counsel, clients and others to implement the proposed plan
  • Superior organizational and analytical skills with the ability to work collaboratively with the tax partners and staff to take on tax projects and get them done from start to finish
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with a strong focus on client service, business development and emerging leadership skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work directly with clients and develop business relationships with clients, understand their needs and objectives and develop and execute plans to meet these objectives
